Just for One Day

For a few years, some of my friends and I have been sharing music to listen to while we work. We’re supposed to review/rate what gets shared with us then share those reviews with the group, but that doesn’t always happen.

I went camping for a few days this week, so I just shared a single music video. I love the original, but I love this cover even more. Continue reading

We are Master’s of Our Fate

For a few years, some of my friends and I have been sharing music to listen to while we work. We’re supposed to review/rate what gets shared with us then share those reviews with the group, but that doesn’t always happen.

Two weeks ago, as way of introduction to Regina Spektor, I suggested my friends check out her cover of a John Lennon song. In that same vein, I present to you three of my favorite Beatles covers – and one remix. For your convenience, I’m sharing YouTube videos of all of these so you don’t have to look them up yourselves.

Ernest Shackleton Loves Me soundtrack (2017)

This is a two-person musical. She’s a musician who writes scores, including for video game designers who want everything to sound like John Williams. You’re Using Your Headphones to Drown Out Your Mind

Regina Spektor – Far (2009)

Four years, and I’m still realizing there are some artists we’ve never shared. Continue reading

Some Roots are like Cages

For a few years, some of my friends and I have been sharing music to listen to while we work. We’re supposed to review/rate what gets shared with us then share those reviews with the group, but that doesn’t always happen.

Following on the theme of the last couple of weeks, I shared a single produced by my employer which I can only describe as “a corporate Christian country pop rock song.” But first, something from a current coworker!

Paul Simon – Obvious Child (1990)

With no context, one of my coworkers from two weeks ago shared this video with me.
