For a couple of years some of my friends and I have been sharing music. We’re supposed to review/rate what gets shared with us, and share those reviews with the group, but that doesn’t always happen.
Elytra – Embers and Stardust (2016)
This is something I’ve had on my list to listen to for 6+ months. This is a band my boss discovered (actually, I think the guitarist from this band played in a band with my boss). They’ve kind of got a driving, funky groove. The keys and cello add a nice texture. I have no idea what she’s singing about. It’s just five songs, but they’re enjoyable.
This week was one of those weeks where we all felt super busy. I didn’t share this EP until halfway though the week, and nobody else shared anything at all. Later, Spencer did give this a listen:
“This was a good listen. I could see them being fun live. The biggest distraction to me was the vocal style. It seemed almost pop-punk in a way that I didn’t care for but I could see it still holding mass appeal. The guitar and funky rhythms was really fun.” 3.8/5 – Spencer
